The Mobile Staff Portal was developed for the Nursing Group which is responsible for ensuring the safety and peace of mind to their ‘Service Users’ by suppling highly trained staff that are reliable and dependable at all times.
Growth demands new level of professionalism
Casey Centre uses a Work Force Management solution called LogicRoster that was developed by Empower IT Solutions which facilitated the scheduling and assigning of rosters to nursing staff. The addition of over 200 nurses to the team demanded a professional method for staff to accept, reject or verify their scheduled rosters.
Casey Centre approached Empower IT requesting an optimised solution add-on that allowed for the following business process enhancements:
- Eliminate the need for staff to fax back a time sheet into head office.
- Reduce the amount of work that the co-ordinators are doing in time sheet follow ups.
- Automatically update details into their WFM system.
Not tech savvy?
Most of the nurses were not tech-savvy and/or had phones that had a slow internet connection. The end-solution was thus expected to accommodate all these issues.
Empower IT Solutions developed a solution that was very simple to use with the minimum number of options, making it easy for the nurses to access. It was developed to be light-weight so that it loaded within a couple of seconds even on smartphones that had a slow internet connection.
This mobile staff portal was developed to work not just on mobile devices but also on desktops and laptops.
As the mobile staff portal strongly integrated with the LogicRoster WFM Package, all the timesheet details were being automatically updated in real-time making it easy for rostering coordinators to have an up-to-date service report for any nursing staff member.

For rostering co-ordinators:
- The rostering staff no longer needed to wait for nursing staff to fax back a time sheet to the head-office and spend time updating the details in their rostering system.
For nursing staff:
- As now the staff could verify their rosters using their smartphones or laptops, the need to fax time-sheets was no longer required.
- Any changes to their rostering schedules could also be easily conveyed to the coordinators
